Recipe for Disaster

Postby Diaz » Mon Jul 13, 2009 9:43 pm

I've managed to do it again, last time it was home cured bacon that caused me a trip to hospital, today it was homemade beefburgers that caused me to inflict a very near fatality upon myself, well maybe not quite that near to fatal but a fair old mangling anyway. Last time it was dropping the bacon slicer blade across my big toe, this time was even dafter, I was making bread crumbs using a stick blender and decided to clear out the clogged up blade with the primary digit of my left hand whilst holding the blender in my right hand, yep, you've guessed it, I pressed the soddin 'On' button and blended my finger. I cleaned the wound the best I could and managed to stop the bleeding eventually, not an easy process for anyone taking Warfarin daily, I should really have taken myself to A&E but after the last episode with the bacon slicer I daren't risk reporting another kitchen tooling injury, if I were to be banned from the kitchen our household would starve to death.
So ............................... anybody got any good recipes for beefeburgers without the need to use anything more mechanically dangerous than a George Forman Grill?

This morning my throbbing finger confirms your advice Kev, but ............ my sister in law is a production manager at a meat proccessing company and like an idiot I asked her to explain what went into beefburgers that they supply to major supermarkets ............... hence the homemade attempts!!

You are a disaster waiting to happen!!! On warfarin, yep, you were taking a big chance!!! Hope it stopped bleeding in good time.
Next time, just knead the meat (bought from supermarket) and whatever else you desire into patties. It's much safer!! I love those Birds Eye beefburgers you have over there. Can't get them here.

I'm not into hamburgers but we just get hamburger meat and season it to grill outside - no small appliances involved - or digits!

Like Lynda says - be careful when you're on Warfarin.

Diaz, I spent some time on youtube looking for videos on making hamburgers but on thinking about it decided not to post - didn't want to hurt your feelings - or give your family ideas about trading you in! ;)

Work with me Cameron....

When you order a hamburger what does the waitress say? "You want fries (chips) with that?"
